For Claude Desktop & Claude Code · Mac
Bolt shows Claude each web page as a short outline instead of a screenshot, and lets it open, click through, fill and read in a single call. Same tasks, about half the time and half the tokens.
open { url: "https://shop.example/checkout", do: 'fill "Customer name" "Ada Lovelace"; select "Size" "Large"; check "Onion"; read fields' } ok 4 actions · 82 ms # https://shop.example/checkout "Checkout" textbox "Customer name" ="Ada Lovelace" combobox "Size" ="Large" (Small|Medium|Large) checkbox "Onion" =checked button "Submit order"
Measured, not guessed
Bolt also used about half the tokens on every task (e.g. 43k vs 106k to fill a form). Same model, same Chrome, same instructions budget.
Why it's fast
A news front page is about 1.8 KB in Bolt, versus 26 KB elsewhere. Less to read means faster, cheaper turns.
Claude writes click "Orders"; read tables and Bolt finds the right thing. No hunting for buttons first.
Save a task once, then run it again with zero AI thinking. A 10-step routine dropped from 21 s to 5 s.
Two minutes to set up
Nothing else to install. Just Google Chrome.
Adds the bolt command, registers the tools and installs the guide Claude reads. Needs Node.js 22+.

No. Bolt runs its own Chrome profile, separate from yours. The first time a site needs a login, you sign in yourself in the Bolt window. Bolt never types passwords and never writes them to logs.
Nowhere. Pages, logins, logs and saved routines stay on your Mac in ~/.bolt. The only thing Bolt sends anywhere is your license key, about once a week.
No. Bolt tells Claude never to accept cookie banners, terms or purchases, never to solve CAPTCHAs and never to sign anything. It stops and asks you. Before submitting an official form, Claude checks the filled values first.
Speed and cost. Built-in and free tools work step by step from screenshots or long page dumps. Bolt does the same jobs in fewer, smaller steps, so tasks finish sooner and use fewer of your Claude tokens.
Not yet. Bolt runs on Mac (Apple silicon and Intel).
Run bolt license remove on the old one, then add your key on the new one.
